Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
(BigWater, 2019)
Definition: SDLC is a process used within a software organisation to complete a software project. It is a detailed plan that describes how to create, maintain, substitute, and modify or enhance specific software. The life cycle defines a methodology for improving software quality and the development process as a whole (TutorialsPoint, 2020).
Methodology: Software development life cycle uses process methodology. It utilises a method of doing something based on a predefined series of rules, methodologies, testing actions, and processes that leads towards the resolving of a given problem.
A typical Software Development Life Cycle consists of the following stages:
- Stage 1: Planning and Requirement Analysis
- Stage 2: Defining Requirements
- Stage 3: Designing the Product Architecture
- Stage 4: Building or Developing the Product
- Stage 5: Testing the Product
- Stage 6: Deployment in the Market and Maintenance
